Hi, not sure if I'm doing this right but anyway. I've heard and read that it is better to buy a CK after it has gained a little size rather than purchasing a newly born fish.. Apparently the larger fish are more hardy to different water qualities than are small fish. Is this true and what are ur opinions?

If you buy a small one get it eating live brine shrimp, live black worms quickly. Once it puts on some size then you can start playing around with frozen foods. Clown knives are pretty easy to get eating

I will try that, I can choose between $17 for 8in CK or $5 for 4in one, hehe. before I get one, I will grow my fish up some more..
Do CK like to pick on other tank mates? I've read that they do, but when I ask people who keep them in community tanks. The guys tel me that they have no problem with there CK at all. It would rather be there cichlids with the higher agro levels (Oscars excluded).

As long as it is well fed i dont see any issues. I think paying more for a bigger one is the better idea if you can afford it

never had issues with smaller ones.... I grew one out from 2 inches to 18 inches no issues with him at all....he was actually pretty tough

OK thx.. I'll see, it will be a while before I can consider getting one.. Thx for the replies

The chitala ornata are pretty easy compared to other knives, the chitala chitala are the most difficult ones.

Even the C. Blanci readily accept pellets
