I currently have a empty 55 gallon and my husband really wants to put a clown knife in there. I explained to him that it would outgrow it within a year and he'd have to buy me a larger tank to put him in at that time. We're moving to a bigger house next year so we'd have room so getting another tank is an option. Would we be better off getting one now and growing it out or waiting until we're moved and have bought the larger tank. We're moving in March so it'd be staying in the 55 gallon for a minimum of 8 months. Thanks for your opinions!

you could, ive seen worse but you would have to be damn shure you got like a 180g because even if you started out with a 3-4" ck in a year i would expect a 12"ish or more ck and he will keep on growin fast.

I'd wait to get it because "stuff" happens and if for some reason you weren't able to get the bigger tank when planned the knife would be stuck in a tiny tank.

ah very true, when i started keeping monsters i got a silver aro and a ck but had to get rid of both because "stuff" happened and i couldnt upgrade in time.

I think it'd be a pain to move it so I'm going to suggest we wait until then. I hear they're not much fun to transfer. Especially since it might end up being to another state. We find out in March where we're moving.

I'd say go for it and buy it. The 55g could work out and then when you get a new tank, you'll have 2 tanks to play with.

just be prepared to get wet when you try to move a 12" CK. it will splash,
mine soaked me and the carpet with one splash
