I have had a roughly 9 inch clown knife housed with a 7 inch albino oscar for some time now, and everything has been going great. They get along fine. A few days ago, I bought a Midas Cichlid (about 5 inches) that seems to be messing with my clown knife. Up until I got the Midas, the clown knife was SPOTLESS. I never see the fish fight at all, but suddenly the clown knife appears to have gotten scratches all down his sides. I took a lot of pride in the fact that the clown knife was so smooth and spotless, now he looks beat. Is it from the Midas messing with him? And is there any way to get rid of the scratches??

i would add a little aquarium salt to the tank and just let him heal.. but i would definitly watch the midas because eventually he will hurt the CK if he is doing it now.. it becomes a game and the ck will stress or worse if he has to live with that on a daily basis..also if he has a cave he may be rushing into it more often and getting scratched since the presence of the new fish is causing him to move faster because he is aggitated..so he could be getting scratched from that and not the midas at all.

thanks i got rid of the midas today! i added some salt to ease a little stress so hopefully the scratches will heal. again thanks for the reply! ill keep you informed

okay hope midas went to good home too..

Hope the knife improves. I bet the knife would die otherwise from bullying. Of course, if your tank was big enough, the knife could reach proportions large enough to eat a midas...
