I bought a really nice clown knife a couple months ago but has not grown very much since then. I have him in my 150g which has much larger fish living in the tank. I can only feed the ck at night when it's dark so the other fish won't eat all the food. I cut up shrimp for the ck about every night.

I have a 30 gallon tank which I was considering moving him into until he gets larger and then put him back in his original tank. Is this a good idea?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

CK's are very timid when small

*to build on this, When I got my CK i first tried him out in a community-ish setting, with small cichlids and the like. I pretty much had to remove everything, because he was afraid of them, and ended up going with gourami's until he got big enough to eath them.

Remember, a knifefish's body is only as long as its' head is. This is important to note, because, even though they may be a foot long, they still feel like a little four inch fish, and are very self concious about it.

I have 2 tinfoil barbs, 3 severums, 2 parrots all about 8" long, also a sailfin pleco which is about 12". I am looking for another large tank at least 125 to split them up so they have plenty of room.

i started growing out my CK at 4" in a 29 gal. i kept him in there for about 6 weeks and nows he in a 106. In the 30 i got him used to eating pellets and not feeders and he would hide and rarely be out. now at 9" + hes out and about just hanging out with no fear of my butti.
They are fairly tough critters but look fragile. Ive had 2 seperate pairs of convicts beat on him and he barely even moves out of the way.

Another way to go is to find a food that only he will eat (for me its NLS) and i can just dump it in whenever and i know he gets it.
