Would a clown loach present any danger of latching on to a bichir and damaging its slime coat in the same way a pleco can. Would they present any other dangers to bichir? And finnaly do they grow fast enough that if I got a 3" coach and 3" bichir they could keep up and stay out of the bichirs food size range? Bichirs grow fast from what I hear.

Loaches are fine with polypterus, as long as the polypterus can't swallow them

the grown rate on the bichir is about a million times faster than the clown... once the bichir can fit it in its mouth you will be tempting nature..

Ty. Growth rates were what I wanted to know about the clowns. I'd still like them but I don't want my bichir trying to eat anything with a spine behind his eyes so its going to be no unless I can find a clown loach whose already big enough to be off the menu.

Depends on species of polypterus, I think senegal and delhezi would be fine if you got them at the same size. I also think that if you get the bichir on pellets instead of feeders you will be better off, although I can't prove that.

should be fine for awhile
