I feel stupid even asking this....but can clown loaches breed in a tank? I have a 125 gal tank with tropicals, clown loaches, mickey mouse, dalmations and various cichlids. This morning we (hubby and 2 sons) were watching the fish and we saw a tiny baby swimming at the top, was able to catch it in a cup before dalmations ate it. We are all excited our 1st baby that we noticed in the 4 years of having tank. 20 mins later I see another one and get that one also, then 1 more after..so 3 babies in all. So small they almost look like tiny tadpoles and can almost see through them. I spent a long time looking for possible mother and the only one I can think of is my clown loach. We have 2, they have been together for 4 years and spend alot of their time in our castle hiding. Anyway the larger fatter loach had something hanging out of it that I can only say looked like a small red sack. Hubby agreed with me that she was the mom, then I looked on line and found out that clown loaches do not breed in aquariums? Any advice or words of wisdom. I will post pics this afternoon of babies and "mom" if she comes back out of castle. Sorry sooo long.:help2:

There has been one recorded case that I know of were clown loachs have been breed in an aquarium so yes it is possible. If your clown did have babies then your very lucky and kinda famous lol.

Well whatever they are congrats! If big enough to see easily the best start for most young fish is newly hatched brine shrimp and/or microworms.

I'd be more inclined to believe it's the platies and not the clown loaches. Can't wait for pics!
Okay, I posted pics. Not the best and I still can't tell what kind of fish they are, but they are eating and pooping and have grown noticably in 2 days. Starting to think the little guys might make it. Any input appreciated, will post more "baby pics" in a couple of days.

Those don't appear to be loaches.
