This is the first time Ive ever heard of this. Anybody else ever hear of this or am I just out of the clown loach breeding circle?

:nilly:

If you have heard of this before, please post some references for us...

doubt it. as of now no one has been able to breed them in captivity

Never! I have 6 or 7 of them and never even saw a simulacre of breeding behaviour...

Everything that I have read on breeding has said that it has only happened through science. There aren't any confirmed cases of natural breeding that I have seen.

I have been trying to find out the conditions, substrate, etc. for their breeding grounds in the wild. I am planning on trying to recreate it as much as possible in a large indoor pond of some type, but haven't had much luck. There is very limited information on these guys.

hopefully the guy responds and shares....

Clown loach breeding is nothing new and has been done on fish farms for years. I never said I breed these naturally, and since the photo shows canulation, I assumed people would realise these were hormone induced.
This was just done for the experience since baby clown loaches are approx 20-5 cents each before shipping so its not worth the time or effort to breed and raise clowns here.

After several induced spawns some of my other catfish are starting to breed by themselves.... :)

BTW, there is one case of clowns breeding in captivity....naturally, not induced...ill see if i find the article later...
