I just had a question regading the colors of a CL, I have a few good sized one 7"ers all have nice bright colors and solid black stripes or bars. My question is, do the colors naturally fade as they get even larger? If so is there anything I could do to prevent this; such as feeding them a type of food or anything thing at all.. Your comments and insights will be very much appreciated. THANKS

I've heard that their color fades as they get older and larger.

you think color enhancing foods would help if you get them to take it??

Every CL I've seen are always faded around 8"+ so I don't know if it just happens with age or if you can retain it. Try the color enhancers...it couldn't hurt.

I've seen a Cl were the black bar just turned pale I mean the whole bar.... Do you think this is because of their mood???

Never seen one like that before. Usually when they turn pale you can still pretty much tell where the bar is. Maybe it was very stressed or sick?

I would say it is more a case of their skin stretching than their color fading.

I agree with H3D. It shouldn't start to happen until their "height" starts to change, around 5+". As they are growing in length it doesn't seem to have any affect on their colors.

I have noticed that some of my spot loaches have picked up other small spots as they have grown, or maybe I just notice them more, since they are bigger now.
