I'm really loosing my mind with my 5 large clown loaches. They recently had ich, then my largest 8" had a possible parasite in his gills, now fin rot! I recently moved them from a 55 to a 125 and everything was fine for about a week but during the past week the 8" has been swimming up and down in a corner non stop. I looked in on them just now and noticed they all have a case of fin rot but the largest, the one that has been swimming up and down, has it the worst. I'm really at my wits end with these 5 and bout ready to give them up. Any suggestions on meds for them and dosage as well? I have primafix on hand as well as prazipro, paraguard, and kanaplex.

I should also add that less than a week ago I added a 9" silver aro so I don't know if that has cause some stress for them? The 4 smaller ones are fresh out of the wild but the larger 8" has been in captivity for years and his previous owner had him living with some larger aggressive fish so I don't see the aro being a stressor to him.

Is there something in common to both tanks? Substrate maybe? It sounds like it is environmental....and fin rot is easy to treat....be glad it isn't a second bout of ich.
Fin rot is bacterial....it may be time to clear out the tank like I suggested before and systematically go over and clean everything....
Giving them up is you giving up.
You have been in this hobby before brother...sometimes it sucks.
.....or.....
Get a cheap 10-20g tank and make it a hospital tank.....watch and see what happens in the main while you nurse, yes, yet again, the clowns back to health.

Actually yes, same substrate but why would everything be perfectly fine was ALL the fish in the 55 but not the 125? There are 3 yoyo's, 2 tire tracks, 1 fire eel, 4 gourami, and 8 small cl's in there and everybody is happy and healthy as can be. I've had the 8 cl's for about a week and they're already eating from my hand. Had the 5 large cl's for months and I NEVER see them due to them staying hidden.

I have an empty 40 gal and 2 empty 10's that need to be cleaned out and can be used for hospital tanks but I have to get them set up and quick cycled.

Let me add that I have to go out of town from the 22nd to the 28th so I need them better ASAP. What med should I add and dosage?

I agree with boldtogether don't give up, I had a BGK that caught fin rot removed to a isolated aquarium, and just made sure water stayed clean. BGk recovered:)

So why can't I just treat the whole 125? Might as well safeguard the whole tank to include the $70 aro I just bought. The only other thing in there is a 14" ornate bichir. I don't understand what's causing the large CL to swim up and don't constantly. Even does it when the others are eating.

having added new fish, running a course of paragaurd would not be a bad ideal, will not hurt your bio filters. if looking to just treat the fungus, kanaplex, again will not hurt your bio filters. treat the whole tank, do do a large water change first and remove any carbon if running it.

Thanks pops. You recommend dosing per the bottle says or a different recommended dose for clowns?
