few of my new clowns in the Q tank have started showing freckles. none of my other 3 dozen have ever shown freckles. looks like pigment. anyone else experienced this?

Never seen it. But the color on all of them is pretty faint as if they are stressed. Mine are very vibrant with vivid lines. Have you checked your water parameters recently?
I know they are stressed, just brought these home yesterday from petco. But usually they completely fade out, some of these still have dark spots

The black spots go away with weekly water changes. The few that I got with them, took about 2-3 weeks to be completely gone.
