I woke up this morning to find my 4 year old clown loach hovering at the top of the tank, in the rear near the powerhead. Upon closer inspection, I noticed he had two large blister-looking things on either side of his body, about halfway down. They look like they are water or air-filled. He is about 3 1/2 inches long and these blisters are about a quarter of an inch in length. He looks very distressed.

Up until today he has been eating fine. The only thing I had noticed was that occasionally I would find him upside down in his little rock house in the morning. As soon as I would turn the light on and put food in, he would right himself and come out to eat.

Anybody know what this could be?

First off, welcome to MFK.

On his side is normal for a CL, but not upside down. Does he live with other CLs? What size tank is he in? 3.5 inches is small for a 4 year old CL. Pictures would help ID the infection/parasite/blister/ whatever it is.

Sounds like external parasite
