are clown loach naturally a little skittish? mine seem to be, but i have 2 spotted dollars that hang with the clowns and they - i think, could be the problem. What do you think ?

Clown loaches seem to really get to know what's normal inside and outside of the tank and any quick or sudden movements spooks them just a second sometimes. They are super alert and aware fish. My 20+ clowns will spook as a group sometimes when i simply get off the couch. Don't blame the spotted dollars, unless they're harrassing the loaches

Mine do the same.. feel bad too! when trying to feed sinking veggie pellets just raising my arm up will spook them. I figured that these fish have proven the test of time in evolution and in my tank- plus they have that sharp spine to protect them against my territorial cichlids, and haven't made any special arrangements to feed them besides keeping the tank stocked with snails from time to time- my Rena XP3 raises them just fine..
