Clown Loach subtrate question

I'm wanting to use some pool sand filter sand in my tank. I know it will be fine for the geos and cats i have in there but I just got a great deal on 13 clown loaches. So the question to those of ya who have kept cl.. Do they like a sand subtrate? Atm they are in a tank with florite / plants. I want to do sand with the big java fern mother plant in the back corner. (few nice sized rocks here and there also) Thanks in advance

Sand is great, my loaches love digging into it.

I use black sand in my tank and they love it. They work it over well and get all the food. Also keeps food from sinking out of reach.

Awesome thanks! I'll swap out the subtrate prob in week or so being I just added these cl and dont want to stress em to bad
