Hi

I've currently got 6 cl's in a 200L tank. Sharing that tank are a gibby plec, bristlenose cat, 2 silver dollars red tail shark and a few other smaller fish which may or may not stay.

I'm going to re-do the tank with new gravel and ornaments because the ones I've got are covered in algae from previous owner.

Question is does anyone have any ideas how I should re-landscape it?
I'm fairly new to this, but have been filling my head with ideas from other peoples tank.

I would like to get some black gravel as a start and I'll be getting some new bogwood as well.
Plants are pretty much out of the question with the dollars (although tempting to move them on as well) and hiding places are I assume a must for the clowns and plec.
Anyone got any other ideas/suggestions/examples/recommendations?

I use black sand (Loaches dont like gravel), lots of driftwood & plants. Give them plenty of hiding spots if you want to see them out & about!

Not even a fine gravel?
I'd rather avoid sand as I've found it a nightmare to clean in the past.
I might have to try and find some decent fake plants if I'm going to keep the dollars though.

There are some nice realistic fake plants out there. Any silk plant will do if its sanitized properly, too. I think the finer gravels may work, but make sure there are no sharp pieces. The sharp gravel will tear up the CL's barbels around their mouth.

Really? I found it muuuuch easier to clean with sand. Hated cleaning gravel cause food and debris gets stuck between each piece, but with sand, debris just collects on top so it's easy to vacuum - I also have it set so the sand slopes down towards the front.

i do a mixture of smooth river rock (1/4" to 1/2") and flourite... the CLs seem to do just fine.

I use Flourite and Smooth river rock, and even have one corner of the tank with a sand bed to rpvide different topology. I havent had any issues with my Clowns, they are growing nicely and provide hours of entertainment. As a matter of fact I am in the process of building a stand for a 220G tank that I picked up for just blood, sweat, and tears. Had to help the previous owner drain it and remove the 300lbs of rock and sand before I could haul it away. Fair trade in my opinion. Once the dtand is finished I will be moving Everyone from my 75G into the 220. It has been a lot of fun designing the new landscape for the tank. The only down fall (besides cost) is waiting 6 weeks for the rock to fully cure(I make my own:))

Here they are. A lot of the plants have been shifted because of the large Plec, but I still like how it came out
