my clowns arnt getting enough food in the tank they are in right now so im going to put them into another tank that i have laying around and i have a few questions about what to put in with them

how would clowns do with these ?

corys
synodontis (featherfin)
small tetras or barbs
kribs
or give me some ideas of some other nice looking fish to put them with
(tank is 100 gallons)

i have 10 clowns from 2 inches to 4 inches long and im planning on getting more (they will go back into my 125 when i get rid of some of my severums and geophagus in the future)

Which tetras and barbs are you planning to keep? Make sure your fish are at least 2.5 inches and over in size and quite feisty enough to defend themselves if the loaches attempt to "harass" them around. Corydoras are easily outcompeted for food so they are out of the question. Synos and kribs though will work just fine.

If you add more clowns, eventually the other fish won't get food. That's what happened to me.

Yup. Weak-willed fish will get pushed aside at dinner time. There is usually no fin-nipping or territorial issues with my loaches, but they fear no fish & will simply push through or climb over them to the food. My big opaline gouramis get a really confused look on their face when a loach half their size uses them as a ramp to jump up & take whatever piece they were going for...

You gotta love a fish that intelligent and unique..

You should see some of the videos out there of Loaches dancing in a big rolling ball & shoaling. Amazingly entertaining fish.

rofl!
They really do this, too lol The bigger fast Loaches in my 250 g tank literally maul the Oscar in there (and it's his tank!). They stick their heads into his gills and swarm him like bees. He's left bewildered :)
You really do need some fast tough fish to go with Loaches. If I were you I'd get a nice big school of Tiger Barbs to go with the Loaches and leave it be-until you add more Loaches of course. Tiger Barbs and Loaches match in color real well. And the Barbs are fast and tough.

That'd be a sweet combo. Never thought to put T-barbs with them... I have one big Kobutai that will do 2 quik laps around the tank, drop & start running on the sand with his fins, then bust out a quick barrel roll or 2...then swims away smooth. He thinks he's practicing for the olympics or something...

Any larger barb (Spanner or Arulius) will be fine. Tigers will work since they are pretty bold. Smaller barbs like Golds or cherries may get pushed around by the loaches. A small of school of Tin Foils maybe nice to grow them out with. May make a nice combo down the road.
Kribs and the Syno. will be fine.
I have rainbows with mine and they are a great fish with many color options.
The only Tetra I could think of would be Congos or Buenos Aires since they are slightly larger, but buyer beware.
