i have a 180 liters aquarium with one 20 cm arowna and three small blood parrot and 4 clown loaches,
today while i was feeding them with the flake ( i feed them usually dry blood worms, basic flake, beef heart ) i noticed that one of the CL get excited while eating and started to bite and suck the skirt - like fin of the arowana ! despite he is like less than half size of the arowana ... is that normal ??
i see that the loaches get crazy when they smell food ... i like that but i want to have the fins of the arowana as it was in perfect shape ... my ar has torn fin now :(

I hve noticed also that the clown loach is not doing that only while eating .... this guy is swimming sometimes with the arowana in the top and does bite the ar often !

I have five CLs and they occasional swarm all over the BP. They do no damage, and I think the BP actually enjoys it. I happen to catch the frenzy one day with my camera. The BP turns on her side while this is going on. Very strange to see.

VFC .... Why do not u add mor BP, another one or two ... they like to play together ...

CL are really crazy funny fish ... i love my group of four ... today i sliced a zucchini into 2 and rubber banded it to a stone ... they got mad

they eat as if they drill into the food !

i had a 15 inch female that loved to suck prawn paste of my finger. I miss my clowns :(

If your Arowana is getting injured, you need to remove what is injuring it, or remove the Arowana from the situation.

All your fish are small right now, all of the ones you listed are going to get A LOT bigger. Your tank is only big enough to keep a couple BP or maybe a couple CL and that's all!

If you want to keep the Arowana you need to get a much larger tank, a MINIMUM of 150 gal = 568 liters, and that is going on the small side, it really should be more like a 300 gal! Im not trying to be a know it all, its just the plain simple truth. If this is not a possibility for you, you need to get rid of the Arowana now.

i am upgarding my tank soon to a triple size of my current - for the same group - and i ll keep this one to a medium size flower horn ....
but my question is still not answered ... why this naughty loach is chasing the arowana ?

I don't believe anyone will be able tell you exactly why your Loach is chasing the Arowana. You cannot change the way a fish interacts with another, not unless you drastically change their habitat, and even then nothing may change. The issue is that if you have a fish being harassed constantly and receiving injuries from it, you need to remedy the problem. The only thing I can imagine that would stop your Loach from messing with your Arowana would be to give them a massive tank so they can have their own space, or get rid of the aggressive Loach or Arowana.

i am upgarding my tank soon to a triple size of my current - for the same group -

These are the mature sizes of the fish you currently have...
Parrots-10"/25cm, Clown Loach-14"/36cm, Arowana-36"/91cm. So if you keep what you got right now, that equals over 10'/3.1m of fish in length only!:nilly: I recommend downsizing the fish you have not unless you are able to get a minimum of a 300gal/1136L tank. I just did some quick research and 300gal is the minimum recommended size for 1 Arowana, not including everything else you have.
