Will clown loaches eat substrate spawing cichlid eggs / fry?
have to introduce 10 - 3'' clown loaches to a 55g breeder with my cons, can I continue with the cons breeding or will the clowns pose a problem?

cheers

They will move in while they are asleep. Not to mention Clown Loaches can hold their own against cichlids. Look up cichlidscene.com and you will see a 10" Clownloach holding it's own against a 12" white Midas. They also have them out numbered and can easily out manuever them. As they get larger, they could become to much for the Cons. Honesltly Clown Loaches need a 75g min anyway, so I would move them out as soon as you can. GL.

No doubt they will, I feed mine Midas eggs.

ok then, mine should never go hungry, 15 breeding pairs of cons, the clowns will be estatic, now I need to work out a new plan.

Yes, your breeding operation will be interrupted by the clowns. Mine love salty little molly fry from my brackish tank & they will absolutely eat any eggs they can get to. As mentioned above, your cichlids dont stand a chance at keeping the CL's away from eggs/fry. The CL's are smarter, faster, and ALWAYS hungry.
