Alright so I have this 120g tank that is currently home to my senegal, del, and 2 ornates as well as a very lazy tiger oscar. All of the bichirs are around 6 to 6.5 inches and the oscar is about 7.5. I have a couple of clown loaches that are about 2.5 inches. Do you think theyd do alright in the big tank with everyone else or should I get the notion out of my mind?

I think they'd be fine. Loaches at that size seem too big for bichirs to eat. The only thing you have to be careful of is food. If your bichirs aren't very active, the loaches might eat all of the food that hits the bottom of your tank and your bichirs will barely get any. If that's the problem, you might try feeding after you turn off the lights, but then you wouldn't get to see your bichirs eat.

i dont see why it wouldn't work. the loaches are very quick so i dont think the oscar or birchirs would bother them too much. i have kept loaches successfully with other SA ciclids and birchirs.

Be very careful. I had a 4" endli eat a 2" clown and they both died; it could not get it down. Plus, the growth rate of the O vs. clowns is very different, so the O is eventually going to try and snack on the clowns. It would be one thing if they came from the same place and were aware of the dangers of eating loaches.

I reccomend getting some 4-6 inches clown loaches as those 2 inches will surely become food for oscar or ornate when they get up to 12"+. Bichirs and oscars have faster growth rate than clown loaches. Also both fish could also die if the clown loaches pops out it's spike on the side of it's face.

This actually killed my plat endli before. It tried to eat the clown loach but it got choked and died both fish were actually dead when I arrived home.
