hey guys i just bought three 3 inch clowns for my 75 gallon tank for leftover eaters. The tank mates are 4 4.5 inch bichirs and 2 medium angel fish. will it work out?? The bichirs seem to have no interest in the clowns. Today i noticed some small nick on the loack's tails. what sould Of happened?? I doubt it was from the bichirs cuz if they did bit the loach, a whole chunk with be gone. nothing serious. Also what is the growth rate of the loaches. I can't wait for a monster loach!! i feed them sinking worm pellets. is that ok?? what should I add?

clown loach = slow growth, monster clown loach = extreme patience ( or $$ to buy one). The sinking worm pellets should be fine but you should vary their diet...mine love new life spectrum large fish formula
3mm sinking pellets, spirolina wafers, raw market shrimp, nightcrawlers, beefheart...just try different things and be patient. The bichirs will eat most of this stuff too.

Your Bichirs will eat all your clown loaches. Loaches will hide but in the end, Bichirs will out smart your clowns IME.

My ornate I used to have took down a baby clown that I stupidly put with him. Later on when he was around 13", he lived with 6 clowns between 4 and 7" for a year without problems

what could of happen to the loach's fin rips?? Today i noticed that the top fin of one was ripped too.

i have loaches with my bichirs and they get along fine, but all my loaches are 4"+ i tried smaller loaches in the 2" and lower range and they all ended up disappearing.. :irked:

so the rule of mouth size applies here.

at 4 inches is doubt your bichirs are trying to eat em and they are prolly just fighting. clown loaches have switch blades under their eyes so they can hold their own.
