Just picked up a few CL for my mixed AC tank. Problem is they are 1.5-2" and were almost eaten by my Front. I put them in the sump to keep them from being food. My question is can they stay there for a few weeks to a month, while I get my other tank set-up? Feed them last night a cube of brine and all 4 of them ate well. They seem to be happy, or is this a bad idea?

Depending on your set up (wet/dry), I say Yes. As long as there is enough room for a 4" fish to swim, then go for it.
When I got my 60gl for my daughter, I had to put her Gold Saum GT in my sump for 2 weeks, even though I used half the water from my 150gl to get her tank running.

Here is a pic of my sump. Thats why I say "depending on..."
Its a 20gl tank made in to a sump :)
Hope this helps

No real reason you cant, as long as they have some space.

The water is exactly the same, so to the fish it's just a smaller tank with lots of water flow. Sure beats being eaten ;)

One guy posted online how he had a family of bristlenose plecs living in his sump. A few fry had been sucked through the overflow and been living un-noticed in the sump. They eventually started breeding and he found 50 of them living down there. :D

Yea West it is a Wet Dry... I have filled the reservoir w/ more water. The loaches are really small right now. Small enough to fit in the gaps between the egg crate. They seem OK, finding hiding spots in the bio-balls and by the pump. I going to put them on the Ewurm Balco Bulk Program. Seafood medley....
