I would recommend keeping them at warmer temps (82-84F) at least for the first few months. They seem to do better at warmer temps, especially when they are young. Keep a close eye out for Ich; almost every CL I've brought home had an Ich outbreak. If you see signs, raise temps to 86F ASAP.

I feed mine NLS pellets; they go absolutely bananas for them. Feed two to three times daily and keep water parameters pristine with frequent water changes and you can get them to 4 to 5" in about a year or two (assuming they are 2 to 3" now).

$3 each is a steal. Nice pick-up.

Sweet already feed alot of my cats and polys Spectrum. They are in a grow out with 3 small peacock bass right now and I keep the tank in the low 80's so hope the take off as quick as they can! Thanks alot!

What aldiaz33 said, plus vary there diet, they love frozen krill and zucchini. Go read up on skinny loach disease cause the one at the top of the pic looks thin. Oh and they do not grow quick... dont drive yourself nuts.

Feed them massivore. I had a shoal of 9 awhile back and when fed massivore they grew pretty fast for slow growing fish. Kept temps around 83-84 and as said earlier they get ich outbreaks easy when put in a new tank. Really annoying.

I don't anticipate any peacock bass like growth I would just like to maximize their potential. :) So sounds like just vary diet in just about anything nutritious. Just hope my Oscar will let me put veggies in the big tank once they get put over there since he despises plants haha

Great score! I've been waiting for a sale like this, so I can snatch up about 20 to restock. All CL are wild caught, so treat with PraziPro, for a couple of weeks, just to insure there are no parasites. Very slow growers, so sit back and just enjoy their entertaining antics while they grow.

I also think that providing them a cave or pipe for them to hide helps...when they have a place to retreat to where they feel safe, IME they are a lot more healthy. I think it's a shame when I see CLs in bare tanks...they are totally out of their element without some form of cover and I'm willing to bet that their elevated stress levels as a result of having no cover will result in lowered growth rates. Hiding spots are a must.

It seems counterintuitive, but by providing them with some shelter they will actually become more adventurous. They may hide for a few weeks or months until they become acclimated, but if they are anything like mine they will start roaming around like they own the tank, constantly begging for food. Seems as though no one ever told my CLs that they are bottom dwellers- lol.

Check out at 56 seconds where one of them decides to take cover into one of the pieces of pipe.
