i have one clown loach, been with me for ages wont grow past 2 inches! it looks retarded though, tis body looks mishapen, since i gotit at the start.. maye its stunted

but iam wondering, what is the best way to get clown loaches big?

what do i feed them?
right now i feed mine mostly sinking carnivore by hikari - occasionally minced beef and prawn and bloodworm mixed together. and what ever else comes out of the arowanas mouth.

any suggestions, magic foods that gets them big??

Variety is key. High protein foods, veggies, high quality flakes and pellets such as Omega One, blood worms, mussels, etc. Loaches are really not picky. Feed them often, change your water often.

i change my water 3 times a week, minimum 2 times. no problems there
up to a certain size, they grow slow i find
after 3 to 3.5 inches, they slowdown in growth.

the tank is 6ftx55cmx55cm.

Tank is certainly large enough and plenty of WC's will be appreciated by your loach. But as 'ewurm' said variety is the key. Also I don't know how often you are feeding but when my loaches were smaller I fed them 3 times a day and now they are fed twice daily with the rest of their tank mates.

But if you are doing all these things it might be that the loach was stunted before you got him. It is not the first time I have heard of loaches staying the same size regardless of the care they have received. Has he always looked mishapen or is this only a recent thing?

Before introducing new loaches always deworm them. Almost all loaches are wild caught and loaded with gut parasites even if they do not display the obvious signs of skinny disease. Medicating new fish with prazi-pro or levimisole will ensure your fish get all the nutrition that you feed them.

I find you can get them to 5 - 6 " within a year, they may be runts or stunted?....Power feed 5 times a day, water change every day for a few months kicks them into high gear, then they stop again at 5".....LOL

zucchini, bloodworms, hikairi pellets, flakes. They will like zucchini though, cut it in half length wise, 4-5 inch piece and use a fork to anchor it. Your loaches will love ya man.
