....does that work? Can they co-exist with one another? I am going to be upgrading my 55g to a 125g and I wanted some Clown Loaches. What do you guys/gals think? Thanks in advance.

I've had a small group of 1-2" Clown Loaches in with a very agressive female GT and they all did fine, they never messed with each other.

Yeah they can, just make sure your cichlids don't harass the loaches, and make sure they can't eat them, which could result in death for both fish.

Thanks for the replies. I am fascinated by clown loaches. I wish I had the space for another tank, that way I could dedicate it to some peaceful fish. Will 3 be sufficient for a school, or should I get more?

if it were like my school you would need at least 35, at least thats why my classes rock... jk... I would say a few more than 3, but what size tank 125? when you have that do more but remember to have an odd number at least thats what people say about schools odd numbers...

3 is a start, I recommend 5

They won't be as happy with 3. The more the merrier with clown loaches. As many as you can fit without sacrificing water quality.

Be careful what cichlids you mix them with, some SA cichlids would be bothered by the clowns impeding on their territory (which they'll likely do since they're pretty nosey and want to check absolutely everything out) and might try to hurt them.

I picked 5 little guys at about 1". They are $5.99 each at Sea World Pet Center in Salem, NH. I was only going to buy 3, but they went down in price right before my eyes. They were $8.99/ea. when I first got there, then the lady made a new sign right as I was browsing. What a score...
