I was chit chatting with a guy at my LFS, got talking about how some fish are really hard to breed etc..

He said clown loaches had only ever been bred once in captivity....

Is this true?

not til recently. a man has successfully bred them recently. although they have been artificially bred

not sure if he hatched any I think many of them were infertile, and didn't hear anything since... theres a thread about breeding clown loaches in the breeding forum...

As far as real documented cases without hormones, I believe they have been spawned once or twice, but never photographic evidence of fry.

thanks for the link :)

ps. your plec is Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeee (with a capital N) :)

A member on here by the name of fishdance is the guy to talk to...

I would say clown loaches have been bred naturally a couple of times and induced to spawn with hormones regularly.

If they had been naturally, there would be some proof. I doubt it.
