hey, does anyone want to explain the difference between the 2 dollar clown loaches at the LFS, and the ones that some of the collectors seem to be hoarding? Is it just size?

After having loaches for 5 years and having them only grow an inch or two. Yes, its all about size and color.

It matters not to me. Clowns usually grow quite slow hence it is not easy to obtain sub-adult ones and they are far too expensive due to high demand yet low supply.;)

Personally, I just love their general playful behavior and idiosyncrasies. I thought it was the coolest thing hearing them click through the tank glass! Not to mention watching them hoover snails right out of their shell. Awesome fish!

Are you serious? What size tank are they in, diet, size at purchase, and temperature? Even for clown loaches that is excessively slow, bro.

I look for the biggest size I can find, and price increases quite a bit as they get bigger. A small clown fetches $8 or so, a 9" specimen will cost you $150
