How big of a tank does a clown fish need? I was thinking of converting my
29gal. to saltwater tank. I heard that clowns are easier to keep because they've been bred in captivity making them hardy fish.

29g would be perfect.

but don't forget the part that they easily get stress too.

For how many though? I was thinking 3.
And what would be good for filtration? This
will be my first Salt water tank and I've
never used a skimmer before. I was thinking
2 A/C 70s.

2 AC 70's is a little over kill, especially when you add the rocks and stuff, but over-filtration is never bad.
you were talking about ocellarus clowns right? i would only do 2 in such a tank as a 29.

Ok. Would you put anything else in with them?

I got 2 A/C 70s for my 120 but they didn't fit on the back of the tank and the filter I had for my 29 I hated so it worked out:D

use one of them and a smaller power head. you'll want at least 10X turn over per hour for a fish only set up.

Depending on the species of clown there are any number possible tankmates in the 29. Examples: various blennies, gobies, dragonets, pygmy angels, certain damsel species, and so forth and so forth. . .plus a wide array of inverts as well.

As usual . . . .it's really more of a case of what would you not want to keep with them ;)
