So I've been readin and asking lfs about clownfish compatibility and I can't get a straight answer. Some people say only one Type of clown like all sabaes. others say only one of each type . Like one percula one tomato one sabae. Not sure witch one is correct if either

depends on the size of the tank, clowns can be territorial and agressive especially tomato clowns.if the tanks big enough for them to have their own area then there should'nt be a problem mixing

You can do either in a large enough tank. Having a pair of the same species is the best way, but getting one of each can be ok in bigger tanks because they aren't paired up and breeding. Not worth the risk IMO, plus I agree Tomatoes are very aggressive.

Agreed. Unless you have over 200 gallons to play with I wouldnt get more than one mated pair. There are always exceptions to the rule. I would encourage you to get the pair and let them mate and rear the fry. You will then have a tank full of clowns and not have to worry about aggression.

Ok it's a 65 gallon tank

Sucks cuz the Lfs owner said i could get a true perc clown and a tomato no prob he actually has a tank with both of them.if it Doesn't work I'm just going to put the tomato clown in the refuge.

Ant good places to get a good pair online??? I'm not sure if my lfs does pairs

If you buy two young fish as they grow up together they should pair up. This does not work well with aggressive species like maroons. In that case a good way to pair them is two get one larger on and one that is much smaller. The smaller one should submitt fairly quickly and become male. It helps keep the aggression down. The only time I have seen mixed species tanks work long term is on very large tanks with 8 foot lengths.
