Hey guys,

My aunt has an anemone, maroon clown and a lawnmower blenny in a 10 gallon tank, for quarantine until they are ready for the 50 gallon corner. Well the anemone is missing we strip the sand, rocks and equipment and can't find the anemone for some reason. Well is it possible that the maroon which is bigger then the anemone to eat it? Thanks also the Maroon aint moving much and has white thin slime from the top of his fin and the bottom of his fin. Should she be worried?

Sounds like the maroon is in rough shape. It also sounds like the quarantine wasnt set up quite up to snuff for what it was put through.

Depending on the size of the anemone it is possible that the clown "loved" it to death. This happens when the clown is too large for the anemone it is trying to host and it just irritates the thing to the point where it shrinks and dies.

I dont think that a clown would eat an anemone. - That being said anemone death is usually a messy affair, and if it happens, you now about it. So...no idea. Maybe it just "imploded" like sometimes you have soft corals in poor water conditions and they just shrink away.

thats good info, so I'll tell my aunt to be careful with sizes of clowns and anemones also we found it in the filter....too late.

Hope it wasnt a complete disaster. You have to be wary of the roaming anemones. They love those filter intakes.
