I have a "pair" of allard's clowns that i got last week off of diversden. As of now one has hosted to a frogspawn and one to a torch coral. Is this normal for a pair to do this? They cruise around the tank together during the day, but at night they go their seperate ways.

The fact that they go their separate ways at night surprises me. How big are the corals they are hosting? I wonder if they aren't big enough for both of them so they find different safe havens. Are the 2 corals close to each other or far apart?

The torch opens up to about 3 inches, its basically a frag. The frogspawn is quite a bit larger, prolly 6 maybe 7 inches across when open. They are both still quite small fish and the frogspawn has plenty of room for the other clown to come in.

The corals are situated on opposite sides of my 20 gal.

I have noticed that the clown who goes to the torch, has been swimming through the frogspawn a couple times a day when it swims with the other fish, so im still pretty hopeful.

My clarks host separately at night...and now a little more than a year after adding them they are just starting to display more and more pair behaviors.

I think its probably a size thing. As long as your fish look cool, I wouldnt sweat it dude...its not like you are looking to, or even could raise the young if they did breed.
