Well, i have 2 pbass right now getting ready to transfer into my 55.

Only about 3-4inches.

Now, my 7 clownloaches that i gave to my friend is about 5-6 inches. And i could take them back whenever i want, so i been thinking..

Would it work?

I know, its a lil overstocking, but i plan to go larger tank in the future.

I wouldn't trust a pbass around anything that is smaller, in any dimension, than a pbass mouth. And since a pbass' growth rate is many times faster than a clown loach, you're only warning that it's time to split the fish up will be the loss of a loach or 2.

I think it can work, but you need to be lucky. I have 5 CLs around 4" in my monster tank. I also have 2 bass - the azul is ~12-14" and the tem is ~16-18". The CLs stay at the bottom and the pbass hang around in the middle. I think it will also help if the bass are very well fed. I don't feed feeder fish because I think the predators will then see smaller fish as a food source.

FWIW

I kepy my 2 x 6" oscell with 4 x 2" clown loaches. They dident even look at them

Entirely depends on the fish. You shouldn't really have to worry about them being eaten til your pbass are much larger.

bought a pbass yesterday and he already ate one of my cl's

Well...lets see how things goes.

I plan on adding my 2 pbass in last. Theres also going to be alot of drift wood and nooks for the cls to sleep in at night.

But the keeping him fed well is a good idea, when hes hungry he chases other fish around, but after hes had lunch he leaves everyone alone.

Plus hes been really friendly with my 3inch killifish and 1inch corys.

Tread lightly when asking for them back. It could easily become a sore spot in your friendship if he really likes them. After all, they are now his. And Oddball's crystal ball is pretty good. If your friend gives them up but doesn't really want to and then your pbass eats them, your friend will likely hunt you down for feeding his CL's to your pbass. It would be better to buy some new ones and another tank.

Had the loachs since they were only 1". Then didnt have no where to put them so i told him he can use them in his cichlid tank for now since i went brackish. He said yeah i can take them back no prob since hes going saltwater anyways.

FWIW ... I think the sooner you put them together the better the chance of success is. Fish that grow up together have less chance of eating each other when they become monsters..
