Clowns and Water Softener

Does anyone that keeps clown loaches run their aquarium water thru a water softener?

Looking at a home that has a water softener on it and trying to determine if this would work or not. I am finding a lot of conflicting information, but I haven't seen anyone with clowns weigh in.

I have had a softener for years and there is no problem running loaches with it. All a softener does is add sodium ions to the water. Unless you have fish that require dead soft water it should be fine.
