Just picked up a 5" clown to go into my main tank already have a 7" clown In there since adding the smaller the one the large one has not left its side. And follows it constantly been about 5 hours now lol is this the norm or is it some sort of aggression.

Not aggression. They are a schooling fish. As David said above, go get a bunch more and you'll get to see some real fun.

Yea, clowns are a lot like chimps, they live in large groups, they have an alpha loach which is usually the largest female and sometimes the lower ranking loaches will fight the alpha loach for the top position, very intelligent fish really :)

Yep. You definitely need more loaches to decrease the aggression. They say you need at least 5, but I've kept 3 clown loaches in a tank before without any problems.

I new my big girl was lonley when she was following my datnoids around haha think she noticed the stripes. Once I got rid of em she did seem a little depressed, had the othe one for about 4 days now and all is good just hard finding any large cheap ones round here.

if one or both of the clowns are graying out, then it is aggression; otherwise they are just trying to be goofy.

Try adding a couple of hiding places, also adding say 5 more 2" inchers...

Very normal hiding behavior for long periods if numbers are under 3 to 5. Get other clowns or community type such as yoyos. You'll see them out more.

You could get great priced clown loaches at 2-3 inches from aquascape when they come in...as thats what Im waiting to come in.

Good Luck, I'm dealling with 5 one inchers for now maybe when they grow little more I will buy a few more.

Same happened to me..started with one big loach. Introduced a similar size clown to buddyup and the original loach chased him for 2days straight. Thought it was doomsday, but introduced a few others and all were best buddies shortly after. Gotta love these guys!
