CLR for calcium deposits in Aquariums?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Imo NO! use a razor blade to gently scrape of any calcium buildup. Anything toxic, even soap is a no no. Vinegar works awesome as a disinfectant!

There's not anything extremely toxic in CLR as far as I can see, as long as it's rinsed away well.

But I haven't noticed it work better than a vinegar soak anyway, so you might as well play it safe.

I use white vinegar and hot water to soak/clean my equipment. im too worried about clr leaving a film behind and it leaching chems into the water

I don't know much about the product but I have always gotten good enough results with hot water and a blade or scrub.

I'd say not to risk it ... a razor blade or copper pot scrubber and water should work..if you use a pot scrubber GO EASY ON THE GLASS ..it could scratch

Razor blade or even the edge to find a flat piece of plastic works fine for removing calcium deposits. The water where I live is really high in minerals, it seems I'm always scrubbing calcium from the tanks.
