I know they like hiding but I'm getting worried. The driftwood piece I have has three holes in it. This morning I saw 2 of the 3 but was at work the rest of the day. For the last few hours I've only seen 1 of the 3. When should I really get worried? I tried tilting the piece on it's side to get them out but no luck and I don't wanna stress them out. I just hope they aren't stuck in there and dead. I've seen the one go in the holes and come out, but where are the other 2 :(

I have a piece of driftwood with really small holes that my loaches like to wedge themselves into. I have never really seen how they get out of it, but they do.

Maybe turn out the light and see if that brings them out.

If you only have 3, they will be very wary. They are probably fine, just in hiding.

Alright well I got just the moon lights on. The one loach is out playing in the bubbles but the other 2 still nowhere. Guess I'll give it a little more time and hope by tomorrow they show up. One of the missing is my oddball too

Maybe try a few more CLs if you have the tank space...

Well I gave it a day and a half and to no luck one of the clowns was stuck. We kept seeing just the 2. I tried shifting the piece around in the water to get him out. My last try was running water through the holes in the bathtub to see if he would come out...he did but he wasn't alive :( and even worse it was my oddball

However some good came out of the situation. For one I bought some filter media floss and shoved it in the holes "clown proofing" my tank so nobody else gets stuck. And second upon taking the loach back to the store for a return I ended up coming back with 9 new loaches lol

I had originally planned to return the one and pick up 4 or 5 more...then I felt bad leaving only 3 left in the tank at the store so I got them all from the tank. And looking to the tank next to the loach tank there was one little guy in the wrong tank  he looked so sad because he had no buddies. He could see all the other loaches but they were seperated from him...so I saved him :headbang2

So my little schoal is doing good

Sorry you lost a clown :( A sad day for us all. I try to get oversized holes in everything. Although I dunno what I'm gonna do when they're like 4 inches round... but it'll be harder for em to hide in a hole that size.. cause I'll be able to see em :D
You buy fish like I do... I'll take that one.. and that one, and hell may as well take that one... hmmm only a few left, just give me em all. How big are the new additions, and what did they cost ya? if you dont mind me askin.

Haha yeah I mean you can't just leave one or two behind. They are all about 2-3". all are skinny tho and need to be fattened up :)

They were $9.99 a piece but I didnt really have any better options. My LFS has them for like $6.99 when you buy 3 or more but they don't carry very many in stock and they are all really small like 1" babies.

And I got a new oddball...One of the ones from last night I noticed only has one eye! Kinda sad really but he seems as happy as can be swimming with his buddies so I'm sure he'll be fine. The store worker kept asking if I wanted to put him back and get another one but I wouldn't do that
