Hello, first of all, I'd like to introduce myself as a new member.
My name is Michel and I live in the Netherlands.
At the moment I'm in the progress of giving up my L-number breeding and am downsizing my fishroom due to the enormous overhead costs.
I will be keeping my oscars, flagtail, sailfin and panaq pleco's, ghostknives and albino senegal polypterus and they will go in one 500 gallon plus tank that will be setup as soon as the rest of the fish and tanks are sold and gone.

I do have a big problem with one of my tiger oscars. It started with some white spots on his head and side, so I thought hith. Placed him in a hospital tank and asked my son, whom is also a member here for advice since he has more experience with oscars. He told me that at first it looked more like dropsy so I treated with antibiotics. Story is, it is getting worse and his front fins are mostly gone, he's losing scales and slimecoat. Been doing waterchanges to get the antibiotics out of the water and filtering over coal as well. Now I just did another waterchange and removed the coalfilter. But I really need some help with finding out what is wrong with the oscar so I know and with what to treat him.

Any advice on what is wrong and what to do would be deeply appreciated. Anything to save this cuty.
As a note, one of his gillplates was already damaged when I bought him as a 1,5 inch baby.

I used Sera Bactopur. Ph is 7,5
Looking into this medication, it contains Nifurpirinol which is more potent than metronidazole.

I was thinking of treating with Sera Omnipur due to it treating several different diseases, fungye and parasites.....would that be a good idea?

Omnipure contains 105 mg aminoacridine hydrochloride, 600 mg acriflavinium chloride, 3375 mg ethacridine lactate monohydrate, 79 mg malachite green oxalate in 100 ml.

I'm more familiar with acriflavine and malachite green, both of which are used to treat external infections of wounds. It seems like a sound choice seeing that the oscar looks like it has external infection. When dosing this medication in the aquarium, make sure to wait at least 1 hour after a water change if you are using water conditioner.

Is minocycline or oxytetracycline (as a feed for fish) available in your country?

When I look for acriflavine I find sera flagellol, wich I have here. So maybe that would be the best way to start?
Did a waterchange this morning with aquasave, that's about 5 hours ago so it should be fine to start this treatment.
I'll give it a try right now.....hope the poor fella makes it!! ?

Do the omnipure first. I looked at Sera Flagellol ingredients, so I don't think this would help.
