I have the Red Sea Reactor 500 and I am looking at buying a diffuser instead (The picture is included below). Is it better at dissolving CO2 than the reactor, because my reactor burps sometimes and lets out large bubbles of CO2. Anyone have personal experiences?

I prefer the redsea reactor over that type of diffuser any day. I've had the redsea, that kind, and now using the inline reactor with my filter. Inline reactor wins any day.

my diffuser works fine for me, but i have pressurized co2. idealy its what produces the smallest bubbles and keeps them in contact with the water the longest.

but i dont think efficency is that important as co2 is pretty cheap

i have a homemade reactor. i love it because you get completely dissolved co2. theres no tiny little bubbles everywhere. i made mine kinda big, about 3ft. its not necessary to make it that big. the piece of pvc that i bought was that big and i just didnt feel like cutting it. however i've never had a burp.

The big bubbles being let out conatain the impurities that are in your Co2 cylinder. I have the same reactor and I believe it says something about the large bubbles in the directions.

The impurities if any will still be there with a defuser. Either one works well if set up correctly. The reactor has balls in it to cause turbulance and diffuse the co2 that way. The defuser release tiny bubbles that diffuse faster due to size. The reactor is easier to clean. What size tank?
