Can anyone give me any advice on where I should install the CO2 line relative to alignment of the CO2 reactor? I imagine I would want to install the line at the very top so that:

the CO2 can float to the top of the reactor
the turbulence will break the bubbles up
the CO2 will mix with water that returns to the canister
the CO2 gets further mixed in the canister before returning to the tank

are my assumptions incorrect?

People that I know that have reactors (I simply let mine diffuse into the intake of my canister) put them on the 'supply' line, almost at the entry of the canister. This allows gravity to help the water flow and gives the CO2 more turbulence inside the canister.

One thing to watch is that Eheim tubing is not co2 resistant. Prolonged use of co2 in eheim hose can result in leaks, and ruptures. If you replace the eheim tubing with PEX tubing, then you will have no problems at all.

I agree with you. I haven't used eheim tubing for over a year now. I am currently using 5/8" I.D. clear vinyl tubing [walls are actually thicker than the eheim stuff] which I've read is co2 resistant. I never thought about using PEX, but since you mentioned it, i can get it at a decent price [plumber sometimes leaves a bunch behind on our site].

Is it just the Tubing? how about the spry bar and the casing?

Vinyl tubing is no different from the eheim tubing, and will deteriorate with a high enough co2 saturation. Generally the saturation of co2 used in aquatic planted tanks is high enough to do this.

suggestions on somehwere to get PEX tubing that size?

any plumbing supply shop has PEX in standard sizes from 1/4" to 1" and then 1-1/2", 2". Not sure if they make them larger.
