is there a way to slow down or turn off a diy yeast co2 system without losing any co2 created in the 2L bottle or having the bottle explode?
i read that you should have the co2 system off while theres no lighting since it only works with lights on, thats why i ask.

umm u can have several t's to divert it to extra soft drink bottles or run a ball valve

Partially collapse the extra bottle so it doesn't over-pressurize and cause problems too.

Aquarium valves will work for this.

Biggest problem is remembering to do it! :D

Be careful, when doing my research for my build I found a TON of horror stories with exploded bottles. They ranged from stating the house smelled like Shiner Bock (mmmshinerbock) to raw sewage. I know my bottle sticks pretty wicked and I'd get devorced if it spilled let alone exploded. I just let mine run all night. No valves = no stink bombs.

with a 2L yeast co2 system and an empty 500ml collapsed bottle how many hours do you guys think it can stay off for?

off? as in closed valve? :screwy:

wouldn't recommend it at all. at least put a "T" valve in the line and just let it bleed off. You don't want this system under pressure.

How many bpm are you running on average?

from what i know i think most 2 litre soft drink bottles can take either 60 or 90 psi. ill have to see the psi they can handle. use multiple bottles and have a bleed valve on the last reserve so if it still keeps climbing you can bleed it off at a curtain pressure.
