The Kent pro plant is not a carbon substitute. It is just a few more nutrients that plant commonly need. The 'need' for CO2 depends on the plants you have. CO2 does help accelerate the growth of all plants however. If you want to see what CO2 can do for your tank, try Seachem's flourish excel. This is a liquid carbon, and will show a limited view of what CO2 would do for your tank.

CO2 units range in price. The flourish excel is a great product, but not as effective. It will run you $12 per bottle. Reaction CO2 is very cheap, but a pain, and ineffective for tanks over 30 gallons. Generally runs $15-25. Pressurized CO2 setups run $100-600 depending on what options you get. Electronic reaction CO2 is the most expensive long term, and the initial setup will run $150, but the monthly cost can be as much as $60.

will the reaction co2 work for a 25g and can u show me a pic or give me a link to a website about it i cant find it i googled but nothing shows up

I would do 2 2L bottles for a 25 gallon. Use our search function on MFK, and type in DIY CO2, or 2L co2.

Neither of them are liquid carbon. They are both just mixtures of micro and macro nutrients.

excel is a liquid co2 but still not as good as co2 gas. diy is nice but i hate them. my pressurized tanks i can turn on and walk away for 6-12 months.
Definitely a good bonus. I do love pressurized, although excel is a good product, and better than reaction co2 IMO.
