I have this old canopy that came with my tank but never used it because tge lights that came with it do not fit with the canopy on it. Some of the edges of the wood have some sort of dark and flakey wood. I can only guess mold or wood rot. As the tank xame with only the center piece of glass. Not the flass lifting door poeces.

Is there something like liquid rubber or another chemical I can use to coat the inside of the wood canopy. Its been sitting collecting space in my garage on a comforter blanket. And if I dont use it im going to toss it or use it for target practice. But I know it may omprove tge over all look of its matching stand and tank. Thanks ya'll

I really wouldn't do anything to it. If it was made for the tank just use it. Maybe just hit the effected area up with a wire brush, clean it up, and slap it on.

But without a full glass cover on the tank itself. Id think evaporation would rot the wood again.

I would sand it down first if it's in that bad of condition, then you can re-stain/paint in and apply a waterproof sealer - they have furniture ones that are made of acrylic that you apply, or you could go crazy and do a marine grade one. I think the best option is to make sure you tank has full glass tops and there won't be much moisture to get on the canopy.

I got some pics of everything.
