Cobra Pike

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
;)...hahah....I can't believe how much bigger my xingu II are than yours though, its really weird cuz we got them at the same size....weird....mine are going through their final color changes now i think...and i don't think yours have even started yet...but i keep mine with other pikes too...so maybe that has something to do with it...

now i guess i heard wrong but i thought you could only keep one pike per tank two if it was a pair cause of there territorial nature. so can you keep schools? cause if you can im gonna go get a few more. i love my pike. hes one of my fav fish. i call him bruce cause he beats up fish 5x his size. please penut tell me i can get more. ill start selling fish. my krussies can go 2 grommodes can go dovii can go ill start kickin all kinds of fish out.

Its risky, and you have to have large tankz. Like I said, I still have aggression, but its still pretty mild right now. I don't know hows its gonna be once they finally pair up and hit adult. I will probably have to move them to a larger tank or seperate them compeletely. Juv/subadult Lugubris are a little easier to keep together cuz they
will chill out together...possibly for protection. Anyway, as they grow they get more individuality and don't really stay fond of each other. Certain pikes are harder to keep together, like Lenticulata and Marmorata are particulary aggressive towards other pikes, my lent. tolerates my atabapo, but still chases and bites them sometimes. The aggression is acceptable though cuz its nothing serious, if i started to get missing scales and torn fins i would seperate them. Key thing is get them young, and keep them in GROUPS. Two pikes kept together will be harder to keep together unless they are a pair cuz there will be more focused aggression. My smallest group of pikes is 4...;) largest is 6.

Heres a few pictures of my 'female' cobra. Shes my baby, sooo small...which is why i think shes a female cuz i got all the cobras at the same size, and the 'males' are about twice as big as she is almost...lol. Males grow faster just for the record...but if you've ever kept cichlids you already knew that....

BTW....the white specks everywhere is cuz i JUST fed them some mysis shrimp, and San Fransisco Bay Brand Mysis Shrimp has little tiny particles of the shrimp that fall off durin freezin and packaging, yeah, don't like it. I'm not gettin this brand any more...there is a brand taht is bigger, better mysis....just gotta member what it is, used them before and LOVED it.

pretty fish. i already have one orange pike. could i get like 4 more then? maybe anouther group. haveing large tanks isnt a prob. i have a 220 and a 540 is on the way. so im not worried about space. whats a good pike thats rare that i could get for the other group?

i paid $75 each for mine awhile back and seriously lucked out with a pair. You should really try them. Great fish. Mine have gone through the breeding thingy about 3 times with the last time being the closest i've come the accually having fry. the female is getting bigger each day so hopefully i'n gonna have some fry very soon. My male is about 9 inches right now with the female being about 7.

75 bucks is a lot for one fish... ill see what i can get them whole sale for. ill let you guys know. maybe you can start buying them from me. save you all some money. im getting my friends stock list today for a lfs i go to a lot. ill post some of the ones you guys might be interested in. any pikes anyone is looking for in peticular?

Yeah, I'm sorry but I'm not gonna be able to believe the breeding until we get pictures to actually confirm, THEN I'll believe. A lotta people talk, and say they've done it but its never happened. So get the pictures rollin to prove it...cuz would really like to see. Lugubris pikes are hardly ever spawned in the home aquarium, so if it has been done its something to really be proud of. Get pictures, you could get published in a magazine if you actually pulled this off. Document the pH, temp, and other parameters, cuz seriously, finding the trigger to get Lugubris pikes to spawn could help cut back on wild imports and also drop prices.
