Hi, is it possible to sex cobra pike cichlids. Mine are about 9" long. I have heared contradicting information, and was wonering if any one could clear this up for me?
Thanks ,Emily.

At that size a female should be getting a white stripe down her dorsal fin and the top tip of the tail.

Fish on the bottom is a female about the same size as yours. It still has its juvy camo pattern but is just starting to turn red. You can see the white stripe pretty clearly.

if you read what turtle_slayer said he clearly states which one is female!!!!!

Yes I do understand that TS mentioned that on the left with red belly is a female. ;)

I am curious about the development of a MALE cobra as those COBRA I have seen before usually turns out to be like female.

Is the sub-adult of male Cobra the same as how it looks in the above picture?

Is it true that MALE Cobra is more scarce and so the South American exporters will choose to export most of the females rather than males?

Lastly, how much is a Cobra in US?

Pls advise.:)

Hey. I'm in Singapore too. Have you seen any of these for sale anywhere?

Anyway back to your questions: firstly, yes the pic above shows the subadult colouration of Crenicichla sp. "Cobra". Secondly, no, I don't think males are less common.
