Well Cabin fever has been killing me so I decided to head to Montauk the other night to go Cod Fishing on the Viking Starship. Arrived at the boat at 2am and set sail at 3am. After a 2 hour ride south of Block Island we set up for our first drift. Boy was it cold..ice on the decks, ice on the face..ice everywhere! A few cod came up on the first drift but once the sun started to show things heated up!(Just not the weather!!!)
Here's the pool winning Cod that I caught. 26.5lbs along with a smaller one, I had caught a few more but decided to hand them out to neighbors for food!
BTW I won 320 Dollars with this fish!!

nice catch, doesnt look 26.5 lbs, BUT it must be to take the pot!

That's what I thought at first, but he was nice and long, I'm 6'1 he was around 40", just not much of a belly. The size of his head reminded me of a nice big early season bluefish...Huge head and skinny body.

nice catch i went out on saturday night for seabass on the gambler out of Point Pleasant. Ended up with 13 2-4lb seabass. A couple of short cod were also caught some nice ling, a white hake, few nice pollack and a blue line tilefish were also caught on the boat.

Nice cod, don't forget to eat the cheeks, lovely fried, just like scallops!
