what other fish can live with my piranhas? they're just about 3-4 inches right now and i have 10 of them. was just curious if there are other kinds of fish that can actually live with em. thanks

Anything you put with them that isn't a pygo will eventually become a meal.

I've heard people keep them with dark or black coloured fish for some reason. Oscars have also been thought of as good tankmates because of the spot on their tailfin which looks like an eye, allowing the oscar to appear to have a head on both the front and back of it's body. piranhas usually leave the heads of fish and eat the rest so they get confused and usually don't bother the fish. but piranhas should only be kept with other piranhas in my opinion.

you can 1 rbp with a community of aggressive cichlids, but not one cichlid/otherfish with a community of piranhas.

Ive keep/kept rbps with an Leporinus an a gibbiceps, the combo with the leporinus worked for 2 years but they killed him anyway the gibbiceps is still in the tank with them.

Look at the sticky on this. I kept a pleco for over 5 years with some RBs. I went on vaca and I didn't feed them before i left. Came back and had just a "shell" left :(. He was beautiful too.... anyway............... IMO it is a matter of time. I would never try and oscar or any other non bottom feeding nocturnal fish. It is inevitable imo that he/she will become a meal. I will run the following on my 200 to see what happens. I will probaly take one or two plecs out though.

It depends on the tank size. In a normal tank you shouldnt mix them with other fish.
In really really big tanks, it shouldnt be a problem.
Ive seen them with diskus, pbass, convicts, plecos geophagus etc.
