Okay, okay. The amount of caffeine that would expose the fish to would probably kill them. But with people already using Indian Almond leaves and Maple leaves, I am led to ponder what other herbs and plant tinctures are good for aquarium darkening. Green tea? Does anybody know about what plant species are abundant in the various flood regions our fish come from? And, more importantly, is anybody using anything besides Maple leaves and Indian Almond leaves in their darkwater set ups?

you want black water? or darker water? i cant remember but there is a thread here on mfk where a guy made is own black water recipe, looked really nice too.

Peat moss / sphagnum moss will darken / soften water without adding caffiene...

Do a search for "blackwater set up"... you'lll find valid information...

Well, I don't need info on blackwater. But I was wondering what other sorts of off the wall stuff people might use to stain their water.

I use coca-cola about 50 percent coke 50% water, the caffiene makes the fish grow super fast.

I'm joking you could probably use oak leaves.
