A friend is considering creating a large in ground outdoor pond. He says koi, I say no way! So, what is the most interesting combo of fishes he could stock in his pond? Below is a list of fishes that I like. Please organize these fishes into groups which could cohabitate a large pond together.

Arapaima Gigas
Bangana Behri
bala shark
baracuda
sting ray
armatus
Adonis plecos
Chinese Sailfin Shark
Ctenopoma Acutirostre
Leaf Fish
RoseLine Shark
payara
Paradise Threadfin
wolf fish
sturgeon
freshwater eels
freshwater puffers
arowanas
aligator gar
knife fish
atf
Polypterus
lobsters
chaca chaca
datnoids
baby whale:nilly:

wat is ur coldest temp. in the winter? and how deep is he planning

lets say the deepest part is 6 feet. let's say it is a very small stream with waterfall, return pump, and 3,000 gallons in the largest part. just use a temp which will work for the cohab you have in mind. if you have an idea for seven of the fishes above and the overlap temp for all these fishes is 79 degrees, then 79 degrees iwill be the temp.

Well i think ur goin to have a little prblm with the ray. I would say alligator gars, arowana, and baracoda. But if u really want somthing u can prbly acheive it if u take goood care and no wat the fish want but the depth and size wont be prblm for any fish i can think of.

I would agree with your friend.Koi are the best fish for a outdoor pond. They are breed to be viewed from the top and and do great outdoors. I've kept nearly all the fish on your list in large tanks indoors and enjoyed them but a pond of good koi beats them all...IMO

you've kept most of the fish on that list? wow. and come to find koi are your favorites, wow. i don't understand the interest persons have in koi. they remind me of large goldfish. maybe i just have this bad connotation which keeps me from enjoying koi as i should.
