Hi.

I am thinking about In a near future build a 500 US gal pond so I was wondering if it is possible to keep cuban cichlids, a couple of texans and one or two jags in such a big pond???? I mean maybe all that room somehow could facilitate the cohabitation of such aggy fish....what do you guys think?.

What would it be your stocking suggestion for such a pond???.

After building my first pond I noticed cichlids seem waaay more relaxed in there... they don't bother each other nowhere near as much as they do in a regular tank. I think they get a lil more aggressive than they really are when put in a glass box with artificial lights and stuff... in the pond, they only have to worry about the surface... in the tank they see strange things coming from all sides at all times.

I even have guppy breeding in there and the cichlids ignore em lol

So I think you will be safe.

Lol! that's sounds cool!!! thanks pal!!!

Well you still have to take size, bioload and temperament into consideration just like you would in any aquarium.

I wouldn't include Flowerhorns. They can be too unpredictable and aggressive, but you can try and let us know how it goes.

And finally, I recommend the hornwort plant. It sucks fish waste like no other and grows like crazy with sunlight. It also looks great imo. I haven't done a water change in a month or so (rain replenishes evaporation) and the water is so good that everything I put there ends up breeding lol... I even caught a crayfish in berry the other day.
