Finally picked up a DSLR, here are a few of my first shots.

Definitely far from perfect, but not bad for all manual settings, hand held. :)

I got a Nikon D7000 kit with 18-105mm lens and an sb700 speedlite.

Next time i'll use the tripod and focus on getting better color.

nice senegal bichir, i like the colour

The D7000 is a great camera. I also shoot with it. Allow me to recommend 2 great tools. They will enhance your D7000 knowledge. Try "David Busch's Compact Field Guide for The D7000.". It's an excellent tool that fits in your camera bag, and can be used as a reference, when you're in the field. David Busch also has a larger book that will allow you to more easily learn all aspcets of your new toy. Its more in depth. I have both. I find that the original Nikon manual that comes with your camera to be more of a challenge to learn from. David Busch uses great illustrations to teach you what makes your camera work. He also breaks down the complexity of the camera and simplifies the science behind digital photography and your D7000. Good luck and enjoy your camera.

Sweet! Cant wait for future shot if this is a test pic

Very nice pics! Great quality! From one Nikon lover to the next

haha cool thanks Josh! My girl kept trying to convince me to go with a Canon. I like them, they're equally capable of good pics, but I had to go with Nikon, I've wanted one for years.

Thank you, that is my wild caught senegalus.

Cool thanks Philly I'll check out those books. I wanted to spend the first few days going through the manual before taking any pics but that didn't happen so when I was trying to trigger the sb700 i didn't even know how to turn off the built in lol but once I got that sorted, everything else came together.

Thank you Eric, we should see some progression towards better pics. The next set will probably be on the 60g planted tank.
