WOW well done its a great poly setup, love the drift wood, just 1 thing , the gravel to me seems to too big for polys cuz polys tend to eat gravel as it sometimes smells like food which mite become a problem and mite cuz them to die. But lets wait and see what the other ppl say before changing it. Overall its a great tank.

Looking good...again:) Glad to see you back in the Poly game.

Those ropes look thick!

Thanks. I've been keeping bichirs on this substrate for 3 years with no problems. The gravel is smaller than average gravel, plus it's smooth. i believe my lapradei has eaten some and passed it.

Thanks Ben! I still miss my leucistic senegals, I should've listened to Rich and everybody else telling me not to sell them lol

Thanks Neil! Do you still have that bowfin?

Those ropes look thick!

They are. The smaller one has been the fastest growing rope I've ever had. They have been eating hikari cichlid gold sinking type.
Smaller one is male, the larger one is female.

Very nice.
Looks like that big rope might actually be able to rival my big female for thickness. :)

We should measure them! :D

When I got her, she was 12", but I think she's closer to 13" it's hard to judge by eye.

Wow, you know you are looking at a good tank when it makes you feel like you've never properly kept a species before and its one of your favs. I've been keeping the poly family since I was a kid and they are a favorite of mine. Your tank is a triumph of aquascaping and good fishkeeping. Bravo! I must now realocate my resources to recreating your success.... I could watch that tank all day. Those are some of the most awesome ropes I've ever seen.

Thank you Joe, that is quite a compliment.

I've always tried to inspire others with my setups, but lately I have been MIA.

My friend Kris is the one who deserves credit for raising mosnter ropes. He had 4 over 11", but lost some recently due to a bad piece of driftwood.

The larger of my pair was already that size when I got her, the smaller male has grown a lot in my care though, and I hope to get a couple more.

Keep an eye out for the video I'll be posting soon....

Very nice aquascaping there, Serg! Great looking bichirs! Nice to have you back. :) Looking forward to seeing more bichirs in your tank.
