Hay, I just picked up 4 cobalt blue lobsters for $5 each, got them from a guy selling them on kijiji. They are in a 40 gallon. Any info on them would be appreciated. They are babies. What is the best thing to feed them as a staple diet? Right now they are pail because they are stressed but I know each time they shed they get more and more blue but any input about them would be great. Also are they hard to breed? What is the best temperature for them?

Most likely Procambarus allenii.
Best thing to feed would be a crab or crayfish pellet, found at most LFS.
Make sure the ever-lethal copper stays out of the tank, keep it between 72-84 and they will be fine.BTW, that temp scale is not a fluctuating one, try to lock any number in between those .Keep the water oxygenated, and if you have hardness problems, like the water being too soft throw some crushed eggshell in the tank (well cleaned) and they will eat it if they need Ca.It will also slowly dissolve into the water, so leave them in.

That's probably the longest care sheet I've written on a really easy to keep species...
Best of luck.

Okay, I will try to locate some. Okay, I will throw in some crushed eggs shells. I will clean them well. So I guess they are easy to keep. There is some info on the net about them but not much. Thanks for your help.

I know its a little late to say but keep the old shell in the tank. the crayfish will eat it eventually to harden its new shell. The Blue Lobster is really not a lobster at all, but,a crayfish. It is a stunningly blue color with,on some, pink spots.I had a reg crayfish, and he ate shrimp pellets, and sinking wafers, and as it happens dainos.

I have two molting right now and I left the shell in for them to eat but they look dead. Are they dead? I can see right threw them and they are not moving?

Sure, here they are. I put them in their own tank because the other lobsters were going after them. (molting) Did you also want pics of the other ones? (not molting)
